swiss rehabilitation

In the Tamina Valley, at 915 meters above sea level, lies the Valens Rehabilitation Center.

The aim of neurological rehabilitation at the Valens Rehabilitation Center is for the patient to be able to participate in everyday life again and to act as independently as possible in this.
Originating from the Bäder-und Kurbetriebe Täfers more than 50 years ago, the Rehazentrum Valens is the leading Swiss institution in neurological rehabilitation / early rehabilitation and a member of Swiss Leading Hospitals (SLH).

Why neurological rehabilitation is appropriate and what are the benefits

After patients have been treated for disorders of the nervous system, neurological rehabilitation works with the patient to remedy or alleviate neurological deficits or consequential damage, to restore independence and to improve the quality of life of the rehabilitant.

Neurological conditions such as stroke, brain hemorrhage, craniocerebral trauma, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome or infection damage the nervous system and affect patients through the loss of everyday skills, such as

to move around

to eat and drink

to undress and dress

to wash and use the toilet

to speak and understand the language

to orientate oneself in the room

Patients benefit from an individualized program based on targeted neurological diagnostic and multimodal therapy to provide focused stimulation to the patient’s nervous system and facilitate re-entry into daily life.

When should you seek neurological rehabilitation?

In case of limitations of daily living skills and after acute inpatient stay with the following diagnoses:

Cerebrovascular diseases (e.g. strokes)

Chronic inflammatory diseases (e.g. multiple sclerosis) of the central nervous system

Degenerative diseases (e.g. Parkinson's syndrome) of the central nervous system

Neuromuscular diseases

Damage to the peripheral nervous system (polyneuropathy, critical illness polyneuropathy, CIDP)

Brain tumors (operated and non-operated)

Follow-up care after neurosurgical interventions on the brain and spine

Traumatic brain injury

Degenerative spinal disorders (operated and non-operated)

Spinal injuries

Degenerative joint damage (operated and non-operated)

Traumatic damage to the musculoskeletal system
